Avery + Conner’s Wedding at The Bower in Edmond

Avery and Conner were married at The Bower on a September evening. The Bower sits on the edge of Edmond with clipped hedges, a pond, and limestone buildings that look like they have been there a hundred years even though they have not. It is one of the prettiest properties in the metro and it photographs like it knows it.

They got ready in separate houses on the property, which is one of my favorite things about the Bower. Nobody is running across town, nobody is stuck in a hallway. There is room to actually be in the moment.

We started with Avery & her friends who brought the most energy and love for their friend on her wedding day. This made for the most fun photos of course. We then proceeded with first look between Conner and Avery in the front of the grand house in the garden. A few intimate moments photographing them before heading on to groomsmen. Anticipation for the ceremony commenced.

The florals from Blooming Stems of OKC were the best kind of loud. Coral and pink and yellow and peach, nothing muted, nothing safe. Against all that green lawn and pale stone it was the right call. Avery’s bridesmaids wore sage, and she let them pick their own dresses, which I always think is a small kindness that shows up in the photos. Everybody looks like themselves.

The ceremony was outside under the big trees next to the beautiful hydrangea edged garden. It was late enough in the day that the light had gone soft. September in Oklahoma can go either way and this one went exactly right. Afterward, dinner inside under the high ceilings: long tables, white linen, cross-back chairs, candles running down the middle, and Kams Kookery feeding everybody and making us smile along the way.

And then there is the photograph of a beer sitting on the floral tablecloth next to a bud vase and beautifully crafted menu. That is a big part of the whole wedding in one frame. Formal enough to be beautiful, relaxed enough to be fun. That balance is hard to plan for and Fete pulled it off.

Avery & Conner during their engagement session were so chill and cool honestly. Their wedding was no different. So confident in who she is Avery brought the fun to her wedding day through her chill spirit and so many good friends surrounding them. Their love story started only a few miles from where they got married which I thought was pretty sweet.

Amy Cakes made the most amazing cake, All Out DJ turned the room blue and purple and kept it full until the end, and Avery & Conner drove off in a red vintage car that I am still thinking about.

Avery & Conner, thank you. This one was a joy.
