Karin and Nicole were married at the Dresser Mansion in Tulsa last October, and they used the whole house. Ceremony, reception, portraits, all in and around the building that has been standing since 1920 and has not lost a step.
If you have not been, the Dresser is worth knowing about. It was built for Carl and Pauline Dresser at the height of the Tulsa oil boom, designed by Albert Joseph Bodker, the architect behind New York’s first Waldorf Astoria. The stucco outside has ground marble dust in it and was hand-applied by Italian artisans. The interior walls were glazed by hand to look like travertine. There is a Prohibition-era speakeasy hidden in the library. Every room gives you something, which is a rare thing to say about a venue.
The morning started upstairs. Nicole and her girls were getting ready in a room that had such a pretty mantel where the florals from EverSomething just happened to be sitting. Nicole was ready to go and her girls were so excited for her. [MADISON: where they got ready, what it was like. The women from Facchiano’s brought the dress and stayed to help, her mother was there in green.]
The florals from EverSomething were the soft wild flower kind with peaches and blues and a little yellow, that complimented the mansions bright yellow framed window in one room and unique blue tile floors in the side rooms leading outdoors.
And then there were the red shoes. I love when someone does one thing that is entirely theirs. Working with all the color of the house and the old stone, the red is the first thing your eye finds in half of these photos, and it is the detail I will remember about this day.
Karin & Nicole were relaxed and enjoyed every moment in between photos and ceremony and the party at the end of the night. They were intentional at spending time with their friends and family around them but also enjoying this day that was theirs.
I want to say something below about how it poured for a small perfect amount of time right after ceremony and portraits and before dinner. it added some excitement to start their reception – Claude
Michael Daniels married them under white florals, and the Tuscan Gardens did what they always do in October light. Afterward everyone moved under the tent for dinner, sage green napkins on white linen from Party Pro, Goodie’s in the kitchen, a cake from Ms. Laura’s. Bank’s Entertainment kept the floor busy, and at the end of the night they left in a car that suited the house.
Karin & Nicole, thank you for having me in Tulsa.
